To start of this segment i want to talk about my love of DVDs. I feel like DVD's are dying out due to websites which allow you to stream films instantly, i know a lot of people who pay for them and to be honest they are great and the amount of films you can watch on them are amazing. However for me there will be nothing like going into HMV to pick out a DVD or a boxset which i can sit down and watch repeatedly until i get extremely fed up of it (Gilmore Girls will never be the same). Watching a DVD is just that little bit more special for me as you have spent the time to pick that DVD.
However i do understand the downside to DVDs and can see why people subscribe to streaming website and the main reason for the people i know is because we are students, for the amount you pay a month for these websites and how much a single film costs, they are pretty much the same price to watch just one DVD so to be buying a lot of DVDs is not cost effective. Also as a student your life is never settled and most people are living between places so to have to move around a massive DVD collection is a pain in the bum. But my question is what happens once you have watched a film on Netflixs, Do you ever watch it again? The answer is probably no as there are so many other films you could watch where as with a DVD the likelihood is that you will watch it again, even if you didn't like it that much.
Maybe i'm just old fashioned in my ways and i can't keep up with what all the young whipper snappers are doing these days but you haven't heard my rant on Books Vs. Kindles, that is a treat which you will get to witness next week.
What are you thoughts on DVDs, do you still buy them? let me know in the comments
