Treat Thursday: Outfits

The final aspect to preparing yourself for your ball/prom is your outfit. An outfit is important and you need to spend time looking for one. However it is not as big of a deal as you probably think it is. Yes every girl at the prom/ball will be looking around and picking out people's dresses they like, it is a part of that sort of environment and don't lie and say you don't do it because you will.  What is important is that you feel good in what you are wearing and don't care what others say because confidence is the best part of an outfit.

Some tips I have on looking for a dress and how to feel confident are:
  1. To go shopping for your dress make it a girly day out, go out with friends or your mum and try on lots of different dresses because you never know you might like something on more than on the hanger. Also if you have someone with you they can give you important advice on how it looks.
  2. Go with a dress that you are comfortable in as you will be dancing, sitting down for a while to eat and taking lots of pictures.
  3. Think about the venue and weather if it is outside, do you want a long dress if it is going to be muddy or if it is summer will you be too hot.
  4. Don't worry if someone else is wearing the same dress as you. It will look different on the two of you and the accessories you use will make the two of you look different.
  5. Always use accessories to embellish your outfit, even if you just take a bag and wear a little bit of jewellery, it adds a bit more glamour to any outfit.
  6. Do not worry about whether you will like it in the future because I can tell you you will not! I still have my prom dress I wore when I was 16 and would never wear it now but it was right for me at the time.
  7. And finally the likelihood of finding the dress that you have been imagining is unlikely so you need to go shopping with an open mind and compromise.
I cannot giver tips on what sort of dress you should wear as it is something that is personal to you and everyone has different tastes but ask your friends what sort of dresses they are wearing and see what they say.

I hope these tips will be useful and good luck dress hunting, you will definitely need it!
